Wonderland

The artwork depicts the locality of Ninfa, located in southern Lazio. In her vision, the artist recreates an image once seen yet not real—dreamlike, reconstructed in her mind. In the foreground lies a marvelous stretch of water filled with lotus flowers in many colors; the water, with its varied shades, shimmers as the light reflects on the pieces of pictorial mosaic, creating a bucolic atmosphere. In the background, weeping willow trees, recognizable by their cascading branches, seem to bow before such beauty. An intensely colored sky fades into what becomes almost pure light on the horizon.
The artwork is created with oil paints enriched with natural pigments, glazed overlays of stained-glass colors on the surface of the water and sky, and, to complete it, pieces of pictorial mosaic made with stained-glass colors outlined in leadwork.
